Ruined Egyptian Tomb

ABOUT

An “Uncharted / Tomb Raider”-inspired level. I designed the level around a hidden tomb inside a chasm in the desert. The tomb was mostly inspired by the Tomb of Nerfertiti and the Temple of Hashetput. I wanted to make a linear level but with a small central open area that the player could explore, so I got the idea to have the player crisscross the area to get to the entrance of the tomb. This was done to make the player feel as if they were sneaking into this abandoned tomb and being resourceful and observant as to what they could use to do that. I also played around with color-coding the blockout to see what is too much color-coding. Egyptian tombs are gigantic, so I wanted to keep a sense of scale in the level. I specifically laid out the level so that when the player arrives, the stairs make a striking visual heightening the scale of the tomb itself.
